My UPSC marksheet

ESE-2019 marksheet is finally out. Here is my review about it:

  • I expected around 100 marks in GS (through various answer keys). Obtained 88.22.

  • Again, I expected 180 marks in Technical. Obtained 180.66. Quite on spot.

    • So in Prelims I got 268.88 (i.e. 270) and I had expected 280. This was pretty close.

  • In Mains Paper 1, I got a little less marks than I had calculated. The scorecard shows 219 while I thought it would be around 240.

  • In Mains Paper 2, I have scored 203 where as my calculated score was 211. So, this was again along the anticipated lines.

    • Therefore, in Mains I have scored 422 marks when I thought it would be around 450. So here lies a 30 mark difference.

  • Coming to the final stage of PT, no one can guess their marks beforehand. Nor could I. The most significant thing about my interview was that it stretched to about 35 minutes and all experienced people have told us that a longer interview is a positive indication.

    • I have obtained 138 marks in the PT and as a result, the above hypothesis stands reinforced in my mind.

  • Adding all of the above, my final score is 829/1300.

  • And here I want to share one very interesting thing. So many of us keep on anticipating our marks esp. of the Mains and the PT stage, I did the same. In fact, I came up with 3 scenarios:

    • Worst case=790; Best case=850 and most probable=815 (thanks to applying all concepts of P&C and probability). You can see that picture below:

    • At the very bottom of this pic, you can see my mom's prediction (823-830) and well my official marks are 829. And she isn't an engineer (she's in judiciary) but as they say, mothers know everything. How do they do it? :D

Finally, below is attached my official UPSC marksheet:

Having faced the NOT RECOMMENDED remark in the past, I feel truly blessed to see RECOMMENDED this time.
